About JonathonSpire Law

Legal news, made readable

We cover lawsuits, settlements and everyday legal questions in plain language, so readers can understand what a case means before they ever need to call a lawyer.

Legal reference books on a desk
Every claim we publish should be traceable to a filing, a statute or a named source.
Why this site exists

Court filings are public. Understanding them shouldn't require a law degree.

Most legal coverage is written either for lawyers or for search engines. JonathonSpire Law sits in between: we read the dockets, settlement notices and statutes, then explain what they actually mean for the people affected — the customer who got a class action letter, the driver comparing state negligence rules, the family looking up a case in the news.

The site publishes explainers on active lawsuits and settlements, practical guides to common legal situations, and profiles of the attorneys and firms shaping outcomes across the country.

How we work

Three rules behind everything we publish

Sources first

Case numbers, court documents, official settlement sites and statutes are cited wherever available. If we can't verify a claim, we say so or leave it out.

Information, not advice

Nothing on this site is legal advice, and we never pretend otherwise. We explain the law in general terms and tell readers when a situation needs a licensed attorney.

Clear disclosure

Sponsored features, guest posts and licensed content are labelled. Our editorial standards apply to paid placements exactly as they do to our own reporting.

The team

Who writes JonathonSpire Law

Two writers produce and edit the site's coverage. Their bylines appear on every article they author.

Zac Shane Monroe

Senior Legal Writer & Case Analyst

Zac leads the site's lawsuit and settlement coverage. His work starts in the primary record — complaints, motions, settlement agreements and claims-administrator notices — which he translates into explainers a first-time reader can follow. He covers consumer class actions, attorney profiles and high-profile civil cases, and maintains the site's running updates as cases move through the courts.

Zac has spent 5+ years researching and writing about litigation and the legal profession for online publications. He is not a licensed attorney, and his articles are informational rather than legal advice — a distinction he flags whenever a topic edges toward reader decision-making.

Shawn Ross

Legal Writer & Editor

Shawn writes the site's practical guides — the "what happens if" and "do I need a lawyer for this" questions people search before making a decision. His beats include family law, criminal law basics, traffic and DUI matters, and state-by-state differences in everyday rules. As editor, he also reviews the site's coverage for accuracy, sourcing and plain-language clarity before publication.

Shawn has spent 5+ years writing and editing legal content for online publications. Like all of our writers, he is not a licensed attorney; where an article touches on decisions with legal consequences, his guidance is always the same — use it to get oriented, then speak to a lawyer licensed in your state.
